I know, I’m a geek. So just ignore this post if you’re looking for the fun, family stuff. I’ve been listening to the Keynote speech at MacWorld. That’s usually where they announce all of their new products. Last year was the Intel chip, so you could run Windows on your Mac. This year, it’s the Apple TV, the iPhone, and everything related. I think Apple has relegated Microsoft’s Vista launch to a complete afterthought. Even though I work with Microsoft products everyday, I’m 10x more excited about what Apple is doing.
The Apple TV lets you stream your videos that you put on iTunes to your TV. That includes movies that you would get off of iTunes, fancy DVD movies Julie creates, etc. It also includes any sort of slideshow or whatever you create in iPhoto. Really cool stuff. The first compelling reason for me to get an HDTV. Well, that and the analogs will be obsolete soon.
The even cooler product is the iPhone that’s been anticipated for a while. Truly a cool thing. I’ve never been much of a phone fan. You won’t find me typing into a Blackberry or whatever. But this one is different. They partnered with Cingular. Some think that’s a bad thing, but I don’t know enough about phones and service providers to comment. All I know is that it looks cool. Someday . . .
