It’s been quite a week for us. Or quite a few weeks, I guess. I’ll probably be saying that for the next 20 years or so.
First I guess an explanation is in order for the title of the post. Lucy has discovered her mother’s makeup. She loves it. She is, of course, beautiful, and she thinks that putting makeup on (anywhere, apparently) makes her that much more lovely. Here’s the inspiration for the post’s title:
Apparently Lucy came prancing down the stairs a few days ago, looking like a lady of the night. She was puckering up for everyone, just in case we all happened to miss the stuff on her face. She was very proud of herself.
I haven’t written about the Moab trip. We had a really, really good time. Julie and I took a ton of pictures, which we’ll be posting soon. We’re also probably going to make a DVD, so you can once again gag at our cheesiness. I can’t really do the river trip story any justice, so I’ll suggest that you read Aaron’s account. By the way, Aaron, I still think that theadds.com would be a much better blog URL.
The summer already looks to be busy. We’re finishing up the move and getting settled here. The girls are loving the basement, especially Abigail and Grace. They stay up way too late. I wonder where they learned that from? The girls have summer movies, swimming, a cooking class at the city, gymnastics, and all kinds of fun stuff. Lucy just finished her music class a few days ago. She has absolutely loved it, and I think it’s been really good for her. Her teacher, Miss Leslie, is moving to St. George. It seems that her husband, Morgan, got quite the gig down there, so they’re heading down. Abby and Grace will turn 8 and 6 next weekend. And Julie and I will have been married 11 years. Pure bliss.
Abby will be getting baptized on June 30. She’s pretty excited. It’s hard to believe that it’s happening. We’ll have quite the crew here for it. Grandma and Grandpa Elcock are coming with Great Grandma Eslin. Aaron and Krisanne are coming. I think that Zac and Catherine are coming as well. Susi, UM, are you coming up? We’ll have some great 7-weed salad in your honor. And then we have the Jenkins clan and maybe some of the Steele family. All in all, we’ll probably have around 40 people. Should be fun. We hear that maybe even some of the Surprise folk may be around? Wardle?
That’s it for this update. I’ll provide more lively reading soon, I hope.
The WHOOO Rules!
Lucy is HAWT! Gotta love Elcock girls, they rule (Sophie counts as an Elcock girl too by the way).
Luke had a few poison ivy spots show up within the past couple of days, keep an eye out as we all walked through it on our hike in Moab. I look like a leper, which has me embarassed enough that I wear long sleeves to work in the 110+ AZ temps and have quit going to the gym. I am not a fat buouy leper but I’m hoping they’ll still let us in the doors for Abbie’s baptism in a couple of weeks. Anyways, keep on the lookout for Poison Ivy because although I thought Luke was in the clear, he has fallen victim too. Maybe that make-up isn’t such a bad idea?
Love you guys,

Hey,
I don’t think that was poison ivy or it would have shown up immediately. You are falling prey to grandpa’s suggestions. Whatever it is I hope they are doing better.
We too are a casualty too. It looks as if Grace has the beastly rash surfacing yesterday. Brian just went to Walmart to pick up some anti-itch lotion and Benadryl and Grace is currently crying. I was reading online that it can still show up for 3 weeks. HOpefully Grace is our only candidate!! I am entering Gwenyth in the Strawberry Days baby contest Wednesday and we don’t want big red itchy leprosy bumps for the judging!!
Happy Fathers Day Midda! Hopefully Grace doesnt get too bad…..
Love Yous!
I guess grandpa Elcock might have known what he is talking about – wonder why he steered the children into the ivy instead of away? I thought he only did those things to me.
Hope everyone recovers.
Love,
Susi
ps Aaron, will you send me your blog site address?
Looks like Brian’s another victim. I told him how long he’d had the red bumps on his legs, “Oh a couple of days, but I thought they were ingrown hairs!” Now they are itching like crazy! Fun Fun Fun!
I don’t know about the poison ivy business, but I am happy to hear that you- Julie, Aaron and Mike made it out of Moab alive. It’s so much fun to hear about all the fun the Davies and Elcocks have. We’re headin’ to Utah for some family fun ourselves. We’ll be smellin’ somethin’ like rotten eggs and watching that faithful gyser that sprays every hour. I’ve seen it hundreds of times and it still amazes me everytime. Your pics of the hike made me so excited to come home. I hope we can round up the old “Climb Every Mountain” club members for a hike. I am most anxious to see your lovely family in person. Take care.
Susi, the Davies blog is http://laughingas.wordpress.com
You should make it your homepage because I have links to everyone else’s sites. No one else is that cool. Sorry to hear about your poison ivy, Elcock clan! I am truly hideous right now.
Sheri,
I bet you’re excited about the hikes and such but watch out for the bears. Have you heard about the bears lately in Utah Valley? Out of control! I guess they have had to close two campgrounds and shoot 4 bears because of a death in AF canyon. An 11 year old boy was pulled out of the families two room tent and dragged 400 feet where the bear killed him. They say the bears are in the valley because of the drought but they’ve never seen trouble like this. The girls had suggested camping for their birthday (no joke) but we won’t be doing that! Looks like I’m going to have to get creative quick considering it’s day after tomorrow. So much for the make it simple camping birthday party. Watch out for those bears!!!
