Update: I uploaded a video of pictures that Julie took of Abigail. The videos are QuickTime, so you’ll need that plugin. Hopefully it works for you. Scroll down and push play on it. Not the greatest quality. I played around with different compression. This one’s really small in size. I’ll probably update it to better quality soon.
Update 2: The video takes a lot of bandwidth, so I put one of those “more” things in. So click on the “more” link below and you’ll see it. This way the video doesn’t load unless you really want to look at it!
June is always a fun month for our family, and this year has proven to be no exception. There’s always the end of the school year, which means the beginning of summer. We have our anniversary (11 years of bliss — a shout-out to Jij!), followed closely by the girls’ birthdays. Then there’s always whatever happens around the 4th of July (notice my jazzy red white and blue theme?).
This morning started off innocently enough, with our standard sleeping in until about 8:30. I think that poor Gwenyth might end up sucking her thumb off one of these days. We’re hoping to break her of the habit, but I’m afraid it’s just a tad big too convenient. Breakfast, showers, dressing, contemplating the day were followed by the grand decision to go get something greasy for lunch at JCW’s in American Fork, and it didn’t disappoint.
Lucy feels like she’s always missing out on some fun in the basement, so she has a rough time sleeping some nights. Last night was one of those nights. It became clear fairly quickly that Lucy and Gwenyth wouldn’t be a part of whatever festivities were to come. So she misses out again, I guess. Poor girl. Abigail had gone to a place called Boondock’s with her cousin for his birthday, and she was thoroughly convinced that her birthday would be somehow less than if it didn’t include the same.
Boondock’s was a great place with a bit more, shall we say, culture than is usually found in Happy Valley. I didn’t know that there were that many halter tops in Utah. Despite the fashion faux pas, we pressed on. There was the arcade stuff, which for Abigail and Grace basically means skee-ball. There was the take-your-shoes-off-and-run-around-with-all-the-other-dirt attraction, which they loved. There were bumper boats, miniature golf, build your own sundaes, and all kinds of fun. We really did have a good time, even if they thought that they kind of got the shaft having to go with just their daddy. Oh well. I’ll take it — it’s better than the all out rebellion that is sure to come when I suggest going with them in a few years.
Julie’s been spending time going over all of the pictures from Moab and putting them in a slideshow. I think it was just finally completed. We should have a sneak-peek up shortly and hopefully production will allow us to ship the DVDs soon. Abigail’s baptism announcement went out (that’s happening next week!). I’ll have some of those pictures up shortly as well. Of course they’re always available on Flickr.

We are excited (and grateful) for the pics from Moab. Julie is the best at taking pictures. We are looking forward to seeing you guys, and Lagoon. I am guessing there will be even more halter tops at Lagoon.

Mikey and Ali
Mikey, Ali & Sean & Jana crew,
The baptism went well and Abigail was so happy–almost beaming. It was nice to have the Elcock/Jenkins crew reunite and catch up. Although I’m not too sure how the Elcock’s felt about the Jenkins impromptu talent show. My Dad played some boogie woogie and you should have seen Luke & Grace’s moves!!! Miss you guys. I’m glad you liked the DVD–it was about 4 days of my life-I enjoyed it though. Happy 4th!!
Jules
Thank you soooo much for doing the DVD, What a gift to look back on all the fun.
We have been to SLC and to Ashton (where we rode on the 4th parade on a Allis Chalmers tractor which was referbished) to throw toothbrushes in the parade. Sounds like Utah and the baptism was good.
Going to SLC for a fundraiser for Mayor Corroon and then I’m going on to Portland for Trask’s wedding. Will do a bit of work in SLC and back here. Then I’m meeting Jan in Durango for a weaving conference. Do you sense it might be hot here and I’m trying to escape???
We look forward to seeing you all at Thanksgiving.
much love,
Mike and Susi
Susi & Mike,
Doesn’t sound like you guys are slowing down any…parades, fundraisers, weddings, rafting and weaving!!!! You’ll be glad to know that there were some representing down South in the Provo parade. They weren’t driving tractors more like the covered wagon type. I feel like the last 6 weeks have been one huge whirlwind but it has been an awesome ride. We sure had a great time with you guys. We’ll keep the pictures coming….lots to download. We had another weekend of photobooth fun. We have an impressive collection now. I don’t know if we want to make them public here on the sight…some of them are ghastly.
Love,
Julie & family
