Little girls, Little girls . . . night & day I eat, sleep & breath them
(Miss Hannigan)

they didn't come upstairs once in about 4 hours

It’s a happy talent to know how to play. –Emerson

crazy giggles

Girls are made of sugar n’ spice,
Everything sweet, & everything nice,
Girls are ruffles, bonnets, and bows,
Dimpled smiles and dancing toes,
They’re tears and giggles, dolls and curls,
That’s how it is with little girls

took a moment to look up

Little girls
are the nicest things that happen to people.
They are born with a little bit
of angelshine about them,
and though it wears thin sometimes
there is always enough left
to lasso your heart . . .

  1. I decided to look you guys up this sfternoon. I laughed at the title of your blog, I sing this around the house often. It sounds like you’re all in your element. I love how you have your pictures on the blog page. Guess we’ll be calling you about that one. By the way thanks for your help with Flikr Brian. Wish I could get Ryan to blog again. LIfe’s been a little stressful for him lately, but we look forward to brighter days ahead. Anyway it was nice to see all those little girls with such great grins and giggles. Sheri

  2. Sheri,

I can not only see you singing the song but dancing along. I am learning how to put the pictures on the blog page so I’m sure it will be easy for you. Is Ryan’s work stressing him? I’ll have Brian give Ryan a call next week with picture instructions. I hear AZ has been getting a whole lot of rain. We got some yesterday but we would like a whole lot more! Julie

  3. Julie,

On your blog I see it’s 79 today in PG. What a beautiful day you’ll have. It’s raining here, but I love it. Ryan is leaving for two weeks for training so I think he’s just worried about us. We’ve talked about that before, what with Ryan and Brian being such big helps to us it seems impossible without them, but we’ll be fine. I can’t complain, a freind of mine’s husband has been in Iraq for the past six months is not expected home for a few more. Counting my blessings every day! Take care. Sheri

  4. 2 weeks??? Have you sent out the SOS to family and friends? It’s a good excuse for me to migrate South to help you–although adding 4 more girls to the mix wouldn’t be much help at all! I’ll be calling you! We are conquering our 72 hour kits today or at least that’s what i keep telling myself! Have you had the food storage talk in your ward?? We are feeling pretty much unprepared with the double move and a rental–so I’m getting on it today!

And yes–it’s an amazing DAY outside that is if I get outside–I’m reading TWilight right now and I haven’t put it down much! Talk to you soon

  5. Julie-

I don’t even know where to begin. It is so freaky that you mention 72 hour kits. We had the talk on preparedness the Sunday we returned from Utah. Then Maddy was reading in her New Era about it. I was cleaning in her room and she said “Hey mom, listen to this” she procedes to read to me about 72 hour kits. Then during a storm we were watching television when at the bottom of the screen was a warning to be prepared to seek higher grounds. To make it even scarier. At the pool the next day I was reading parenting and there was an article about learning what the natural disaster in your part of the country is and GET PREPARED. I am not kidding you these are only a few things that have been warning me and I am sure it is the spirit prodding me to get prepared. When I read that you were getting on it I was so impressed. It obviously does not take a lightening bolt for you to be inspired. Because of you I am further prompted and inspired. You are truly amazing. Well happy reading.

  6. Julie-

It was really nice talking to you today. After I got off the phone with you I went inside the house to find that our water is a muddy mess. If I hadn’t already complained enough for one day here I go again. I am dreading laying down in my bed without a shower. Worse still was that the girls went to bed thirsty. Do you think someone is trying to send a message? Guess I hesitated too long. I went to the food storage and pulled the water pouches out to find that they had expired. The girls said the water tasted like plastic. I just realized it is raining maybe I’ll just head out back. That’ll be a good front page for the morning news “Women struck by lightening,.. naked.” I just thought I’d mention water purification tablets might be a good investment for those kits. Sorry for more gloom and doom. Talk to you soon. Sheri

  7. Sheri,

Muddy water, Naked women and lightning–what is going on down there!!LOL No really no water??? How are you managing? This is a good 72 hour kit practice for you girlies (trying to look on the bright side). And plastic water doesn’t sound too refreshing. This is why I have redone our 72 hour kits from the meals in pouches (just add water). I don’t think my kids would touch them with a ten foot pole. We opt for healthier choices like easy cheese, vienna sausages, chips, candy, top roman. Who am I kidding–72 hours of that might kill us off anyway! I’m not making fun of your plight just trying to empathize. I must really know–muddy or mirky water out of the tap? If I know you you’ll somehow make lemonade out of the lemons going on down there.

  8. Julie-

I feel bad using your blog to talk. I have to look everyday, what can I say I’m addicted to your family. I still need to talk to you about those kits. It’s the next thing on the agenda. The man who came by yesterday for that inspection creeped me out. He even knows Ryan is away and he has a key. I was boobie trapping the doors last night and had all the girls in with me. It made for an interesting night. I had to give a presentation last night to the young women on modesty. Hopefully that wasn’t a total bomb. Maddie’s birthday party is Friday night , so I’llI be happy if we’re all alive by Sunday so I can give my lesson. Hope you are all doing well and your tenants are cooperating. I was sorry to hear that you are dealing with such a thing. I’m sure you are having fun preparing the girls for school. Talk to you soon. Sheri
